Ian Hollingsworth awarded PrideofAustralia™ HeroismMedal
Ian Hollingsworth, St Helens Marine Rescue Operations Manager, was today awarded the PrideofAustralia™ HeroismMedal in Hobart. Tasmania.
In awarding the HeroismMedal, Ian was lauded not just for his role as an administrator of St Helens Marine Rescue, but also for “…the dangerous job of watching over the treacherous barway at the entrance to Georges Bay…” where “…he has put himself at risk many times escorting boats across the bar or on rescue missions that have saved lives…”
PrideofAustralia™ honours ordinary Australians who do extraordinary things throughout our communities. Now in its seventh year, the PrideofAustralia™ medal is made up of ten categories – Outstanding Bravery, Courage, Heroism, Community Spirit, Child of Courage, Young Leader, Care and Compassion, Inspiration, Environment and the Fair Go.
The HeroismMedal is awarded to recognise a member or members (professional or volunteer) of the SES, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, defence forces, air rescue service who work, or have worked, on the frontline to protect the community.
